Many Eyes

Here’s an interesting way of visualising data – Many Eyes from IBM. You can upload data and produce graphs in all kinds of different forms – beats the hell out of Excel.  There are the usual graphs and also other ways of representing texts, like word clouds/wordles.  These make more common words larger, so it’s easier to see what the key words are in a piece of text.  The other neat thing is being able to reorder data from the graph itself – handy when you have 3 axes.

Treemaps are like pie charts but you can rearrange the data from this view or input more data and then have a graph that changes for each year

Treemaps are like pie charts. This one shows expenditure. Here the shading represents % change and the user can scroll through years to view each year.
